Critical thinking is thinking that entails self-improvement. It guides one to think well and, consequently, to impose discipline and restraint on our thinking. Critical thinking is essential for designing and writing effective documents. This is why the Advanced Writing and Reporting course begins with Critical Thinking as its first module.
In order to write a successful document, due planning is required. We have to think through various things: what our subject is; what is the purpose of writing; who is the audience; what is the best way to express oneself; etc. Critical thinking is necessary for this process, and this module will provide a guide on the steps to take to carry out critical thinking.
